Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The location is ideal for people who want to be able to walk or cycle from the door but still be within easy reach of tourist attractions and train and road links. The setting, with the private sculpture park close to the River Seine, was both restful and stimulating. It was close to Monet's house and garden at Giverny, but also river walks and cycle routes, scenic villages and countryside. The village has a cafe/tabac, a butchers/delicatessen, a bakers and a restaurant. The gite is modern and clean. There were 2 mountain bikes available for us to use and an outside covered area for our own bikes, as well as private off-road parking close to the gite. Our host Monique was very helpful and informative and we enjoyed our conversations about gardening, nature and sculpture. She made excellent recommendations for places to visit, eat and shop in the area.

Negative: We missed having a dishwasher and washing machine, although this isn't a great problem and the host had a washing machine that could be used. The chairs in the dining/living area were not very comfortable, but double up as spare single beds.

Summary: Excellent small modern gite ideally situated for walking, cycling and sight-seeing.
