Summary: Our apartment was perfect for our needs. Check-in at the hotel next door was a breeze, and the staff was excellent. They even offered free espresso from their machine in the hotel lobby even though we were staying at an apartment next door. The location of this property merits ten stars. It is essentially across the street from the Marseille St. Charles Train Station, which makes Marseille the perfect "base city" for travelers using a Eurail Pass. We stayed four days at the apartment and took two separate day trips--one to Arles and another to Avignon. From the apartment, we walked to the old town, the incredible historic wharf, and even to Notre-Dame de la Garde (although that is quite a hike for anyone at any age). Our apartment overlooked a large tree-filled square at the foot of the train station and was just a few blocks away from a nice little grocery store where we purchased breakfast items and also some items for a few dinners (we like to have our main meal at a nice restaurant for a leisurely lunch with a bottle of wine). The apartment had a nice sized living room with a kitchen and eating bar, a comfy bedroom, and a two-room bathroom with the toilet in a separate room across the hall from the room with the bathroom sink and a huge shower stall. Ample fluffy towels were provided and were easy to keep dry with the towel warmer. Also, the shower was by far the best shower in any of the hotels and apartments we stayed at during a three week trip in Europe.
